Every action we do, the good or the bad, appears on our features and shows people who we are. If someone is a naturally good person, those who meet them see that clearly. When crimes are committed, the resulting scars mark you for what was done. Dorian Gray, however, is immune to such hideous effects that come from the life he lives, or at least himself. But sinful acts always leave their mark somewhere. On the outside, Dorian appears like the righteous man everyone around him thinks he is, but in secret he leads a more terrible life. Usually if anyone would live such a double life there would be visible effects. Unlike other people though, the scars of Dorian's life stay confined to his soul, which his reflected on the picture Basil painted.
